SINGAPORE FASHION RUNWAY (SFR)

I was involved in organising an event called Fashion.able as part of my assignment for project management in Year 2. I was able to work with SFR to organise a 2 day lunchtime event as Marina One, the main objective of this event was to create a platform for the public to gain exposure and clear up common misconceptions about people with disabilities.

  • Through my various volunteering sessions with them, I picked up skills such as communications and networking.
  • I got to interview the founder and the beneficiaries during my visits and this honed my networking and communication skills as I got to establish friendships and connections with the beneficiaries and founder.
I've always like working with youths but this was the first time I've had the opportunity to work with a bigger group of youths with disabilities and it was an eye-opening experience. I'm more sensitive to the needs of their needs and admire them for their courage and determination. I've also learnt how to better communicate with them and pushed myself to be more social.

I volunteered to help Singapore Fashion Runway during their runway event at the Tatinis Art show in 2019. I was in charge of helping out backstage and preparing the models for the show.

Project Chara

Project Chara is a cohort project with the aim of creating a memorable experience for the less privileged children.

I was involved in the planning of activities for the carnival whereby we did the set-up and contingency management for each individual booth.

I got to experience first-hand what is it like to plan for an event and also the learn how to come up with contingency plans.
